What makes an engagement ring antique or vintage?
A ring must be between 20 and 100 years old to be considered vintage, and 100 years or older to be considered an antique!
Can an antique engagement ring be worn every day?
Here at Lillicoco, all our rings go through a rigorous testing and quality assurance process to ensure they are at their very best and will stand up well to daily wear. On the rare occasion where daily wear is not recommended or there are any special care instructions, they will be clearly stated in the condition report.
The beauty of Lillicoco engagement rings is that our entire selection is pre-loved or vintage, with the majority being antique (over 100 years old!) The vast majority are safe to wear on a daily basis because here at Lillicoco we choose our rings very carefully to ensure they are in excellent condition.
Generally speaking, the older the ring is, the more careful we have to be to keep it looking her best. Art Deco rings from the 1920's for instance are generally very well made, and are an excellent choice for an antique engagement ring with little maintenance required! Victorian rings from the 1800's are of course a little older. They may still be worn on a daily basis and we would reccomend slightly more regular maintenence checks to ensure all the claws, gems and settings are safe and strong.
Can antique engagement rings be resized?
As we specialise in unique and antique jewellery, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this. Whether a ring can be resized is dependent on whether the ring has previously been resized, the style of the ring, the materials, and the age of the ring. Get in touch with us for advice on a specific ring. Rest assured, if resizing is possible, we will complete the work to the highest standard!

For engagement rings, we typically recommend harder gemstones such as Diamond, Sapphire and Ruby.
However, other gemstones can be worn safely in an engagement ring, and we can offer you specific care advice for your ring if you want to go for something a little different.

If your chosen engagement ring doesn’t fit, we can assess and arrange resizing options for you, so that you can get that perfect fit! If this is not possible for whatever reason (eg, style or material doesn’t allow), we will do our utmost to find a solution for you; all you need to do is get in touch with us!
