Three Opal cabochons glow across the broad face of this Victorian 18ct Gold ring, dated to 1880. Their softly rounded surfaces show flashes of green, pink and orange, with a larger central stone flanked by two smaller Opals. Smooth Gold surrounds each stone, giving the colourful trio a strong, uncluttered frame.

The generous shoulders taper towards the back of the band, and the side view reveals the domed cabochons rising just above their settings. At 6.5g, the ring has a pleasingly substantial Gold presence. Its appeal lies in that direct pairing of rich Gold and shifting gemstone colour.

Central Opal measures 5mm in diameter x 3mm deep.
Outer Opals measure 4.5mm in diameter x 3mm deep.
Total Opal weight is approx. 1.09ct.
WEIGHT: 6.5g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold, Natural Solid Opal (1.09ct).

HALLMARKS: SS Maker's Mark, Crown, 18, London Leopard Head, date letter E for 1880.
