Ornate and opulent, this Austro-Hungarian Opal cluster ring unfurls like a stylised rosette on the finger. A raised dome of shimmering Opals radiates from a prominent centre cabochon, each stone secured in serrated bezel settings and framed by twisted-rope borders and scrolling Silverwork. The design is richly textured and sculptural, with a wonderful antique character.

The Opals display a milky translucency with delicate flashes of blue, green and pink, beautifully complemented by the Silver’s darkened patina in the recessed details. A bold, eye-catching statement with all the romance and craftsmanship we love from the Austro-Hungarian era.

MEASUREMENTS: Ring face is 16.5mm long x 16mm wide.
Central Opal measures 5.5mm in diameter.
Outer Opals graduate from 2.5mm long x 2.5mm wide to 3mm in diameter.
Band is 2.5mm wide at the back.
WEIGHT: 5.5g.

MATERIALS: Tests as Silver, Natural Solid Opal.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

VERY GOOD: The Opals are secure with lovely play-of-colour. A couple of the Opals have a chip, noticeable under close inspection; they all remain securely set. The Silver setting and raised gallery are strong and well-preserved, with light surface wear and an attractive darkened patina to the recesses. Hand-finished irregularities to the bezels and small solder remnants are present, consistent with the original craftsmanship; overall, beautifully maintained.
