An oval of deep green Bloodstone, scattered with rusty-red flecks, sits within the engraved 9ct Gold frame of this Victorian watch key pendant. Turn the swivel and warm reddish-orange Carnelian takes its place. The smooth stone faces and rounded setting contrast with the pointed zigzag border and curling leaf-like engraving of the surrounding mount.

The watch-key tube travels with the oval swivel, projecting when turned out and resting in the narrow opening above the stone when folded away. This ingenious arrangement gives the piece both a two-sided decorative face and an intriguing piece of watch-key construction to explore. A round jump ring sits above the shaped frame, allowing the pendant to hang with the stone facing forward.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

EXCELLENT: The zigzag border and curling engraved details remain crisp. Fine surface scratches are visible on the Carnelian face and the smooth Gold setting, while the Bloodstone retains its distinct mottled pattern. The key folds away with a distinct click.
