A soulful Georgian mourning ring in richly hued 18ct Gold, set with a vivid purple Amethyst cabochon framed by an inky halo of French Jet. The elongated, softly rounded cluster silhouette and the delicious contrast of saturated Amethyst against dark Jet give this jewel a romantic, moody elegance.
Hand-crafted c.1816–1821, the closed-back head with scalloped under-gallery and cut-down Jet collets speaks to early 19th-century craftsmanship, with split shoulders tapering to a comfortable shank. Poignantly, the ring carries period inscriptions: on the back of the ring face, “Rob Morrel esq ob, 26 Oct 1816 at 75”, and to the inner band, “Mr J Rutt ob 1821 at 62”. Jet stones measure 2.5mm in diameter.
Ring band is 4mm wide at the back.

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold, Amethyst, French Jet.
HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.
PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.
Condition
VERY GOOD: The Amethyst shows light, age-consistent surface abrasions under magnification, and the Jet halo displays minor facet wear; all stones are secure. The 18ct Gold settings and shank are in fine order with an even antique patina and gentle softening to the cut-down rims. There is evidence of a past resize to the back of the shank, and the inscriptions remain clear and legible.

Layaway Installment Plans
A layaway is an interest-free payment plan that enables you to reserve an item with an initial deposit, and then pay the balance over 60 days.
Layaway is very popular with Lillicoco customers, particularly when making a more considered purchase.
How It Works
In total, you will make three payments over three months:
Day 1: 33.33%
Day 30: 33.33%
Day 60: 33.33%
Your layaway purchase is reserved for you as soon as the initial payment has been taken.
Your order is shipped once the full balance has been paid.
All of our usual terms and conditions apply with a layaway purchase, although 15% of the invoice total is nonrefundable in case of cancellation or return, acting as an administration fee.
A layaway is not a loan, nor is it a form of credit. A credit check is not required to put an item on layaway, and missing a payment will not affect your credit score.
If you do not complete your layaway on schedule your reservation may be cancelled and your payments may be refunded, minus the administration fee.
