A graceful Edwardian lavalier, this exquisite drop necklace pairs two luminous Black Opal cabochons with a delicate halo of twinkling Diamonds. The petite round connector leads the eye to a larger round cabochon alive with blue‑green play‑of‑colour, all framed in fine milgrain that whispers of the era’s refined craftsmanship.

Tested 18ct Gold mounts and Platinum settings create an elegant two‑tone palette, the Diamonds set in Platinum with a scalloped, millegrained halo for a crisp, bright finish. Suspended from a fine 9ct Gold chain with 18ct Gold fittings, the articulated construction gives the pendant a poised, fluid movement. The Black Opals total approximately 2.25ct, with about 0.10ct of Diamonds adding a subtle, sparkling corolla around the focal stone.

MEASUREMENTS: Pendant drop is 45mm long.
1 x Opal measures 12.5mm diameter.
1 x Opal measures 5mm diameter.
Total Opal weight is approx. 2.25ct.
12 x Diamonds graduate from 1.5–2mm in diameter, weighing approx. 0.10ct combined.
Chain links are 1.5mm wide.
WEIGHT: 4.5g.

MATERIALS: Tests as 18ct Gold (mounts), Platinum (settings), 9ct Gold (chain), 18ct Gold bolt-ring and jump-rings, Solid Natural Black Opal (2.25ct), Diamond (0.10ct).

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.

Condition

EXCELLENT: The Black Opals are vibrant with no chips or losses observed; the Diamonds are bright and well-matched. Settings are crisp with fine milgrain intact, and the metal shows only light surface wear and a gentle patina commensurate with age. A subtle, neat solder seam is visible to one linking element under close inspection, secure and stable.
